[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The Department of Automotive Engineering at Dongmyung University (President Jeon Ho-hwan) has produced a series of award winners, including the grand prize, in a private competition in the field of automobile maintenance.


Dongmyung University announced on the 9th that one graduate and four current students swept the grand prize, silver, bronze, and excellence awards at the awards ceremony of the 10th Private Skills Competition (Automobile Maintenance Division) organized by the Korea Skills Federation on the 6th.


Im Ji-ho, a 2020 graduate guided by Professor Choi Gap-seung of the Department of Automotive Engineering at Dongmyung University, won the grand prize, the Busan Mayor's Award.


Current students received the following awards: ▲ Gu Jong-wan (3rd year) won the silver award, the Busan Buk-gu Office Chief's Award; ▲ Lee Seung-jun (4th year) and Kim Min-jae (3rd year) won the bronze award (Korea Automobile Technicians Association President's Award); ▲ Han Jae-won (2nd year) won the excellence award, the Korea Skills Federation President's Award.


Grand prize winner Im Ji-ho is a top-level automobile maintenance technician working at Kia Motors Auto Q (Bugok branch). Silver award winner Gu Jong-wan is known for his great interest in automobiles and diligently honing his practical skills, serving as a role model for many juniors.


This competition, held to select and foster excellent technicians and promote vocational skill development, was organized by the Korea Skills Federation and took place on October 5th.


The event was sponsored by Busan City, Busan Regional Employment and Labor Office, Busan Regional Headquarters of the Human Resources Development Service of Korea, Busan Southern Branch of the Human Resources Development Service of Korea, Dongmyung University Engineering Innovation Center, and Barun Technology Co., Ltd.


The Department of Automotive Engineering at Dongmyung University (Department Head Lee Ki-su) is participating in the 4th Industrial Revolution Innovation Leading University Project, establishing practice rooms and the latest equipment necessary for education and training in eco-friendly vehicles.


The TEAM S.E.C team (department major club) won the overall bronze award at the 2022 University Student Smart e-Mobility Competition, which had 1,200 participants from 68 teams nationwide. The department will be expanded and reorganized into the Department of Electric Vehicle Engineering starting from the 2023 academic year to align with the new paradigm of the automobile industry.
