[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] Yeongam-gun announced on the 9th that it held the ‘Domestic and Foreign Workers’ Festival in Daebul Industrial Complex’ event, hosted by the Jeonnam Shipbuilding and Marine Equipment Cooperative, at Daebul General Sports Park Stadium with about 400 workers in attendance.


This event was organized by the Jeonnam Shipbuilding Equipment Cooperative with support from Yeongam-gun, the Daebul Industrial Complex Employers’ Association, and the Korea Industrial Complex Daebul Branch, aiming to promote communication and harmony among domestic and foreign workers employed in the Daebul Industrial Complex.


As a pre-event, performances of Jindo Bukchum (drum dance) and Giye Mudan (martial arts dance) were held, followed by various games inspired by the Korean drama Squid Game, including ▲Mugunghwa Flower Has Bloomed (a Korean version of Red Light, Green Light) ▲Jegichagi (shuttlecock kicking) ▲Ring Toss ▲Volleyball ▲Dodgeball, and more.


Gochanghoe, Chairman of the Shipbuilding Equipment Cooperative, stated, “I hope that this event will lead to the establishment of Korean language classes and programs to enhance cultural sensitivity for foreign workers,” adding, “We will take the lead in resolving inconveniences in the daily lives of foreign workers and improving living conditions so that they can work in a better environment.”


A county official said, “This was the first event targeting foreign workers since the COVID-19 pandemic and became a meaningful occasion to strengthen friendship and bonds among workers of various nationalities,” and added, “We will do our best to create opportunities for both domestic and foreign workers to enjoy together in the future.”
