[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] On the 8th, Geochang County in Gyeongnam held the 70th Anniversary of Veterans Day commemorative event at the Geochang Sports Park Geochang County Gymnasium, hosted by the Geochang County Veterans Association.

The event was attended by about 200 people, including County Governor Goo In-mo, heads of veterans organizations, institutional leaders, and members of the Veterans Association, who pledged national security and celebrated the 70th Anniversary of Veterans Day.

As a pre-event, a security lecture was held for members of the Veterans Association and veterans organizations. The Veterans Day commemorative ceremony proceeded in the order of the national anthem, award presentation, commemorative speech, congratulatory speech, and veterans' pledge.

The Veterans Meeting Day event concluded with Yutnori and singing contests among the Veterans Association members to promote unity.

Kim Yoon-soo, President of the Geochang County Veterans Association, said, “The Veterans Association is the largest security organization in the Republic of Korea, and we will do our best to raise security awareness and establish a security system, as well as strive for the welfare of our members and regional development.”

Governor Goo said in his congratulatory speech, “The Veterans Association has consistently worked for over 70 years to promote national development and social welfare. Given the recent missile provocations by North Korea and the Russia-Ukraine war, the world is engaged in an invisible war amid tension and suffering, making the Veterans Association’s steadfast spirit of defending the homeland more important than ever.”
