“Dog Counseling Twice as Popular as Cat”… AboutPet’s CareTalk Service Gains Popularity

Top Priority in Consultations: 'Health Management'

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] It has been revealed that consultations about raising dogs are about twice as many as those about cats.

According to AboutPet, a pet vertical commerce subsidiary of GS Retail, the results were compiled from approximately 10,000 inquiries to the 'Care Talk Consultation Service' from January to September this year. The Care Talk Consultation Service is a free service provided by AboutPet since May last year, offering various parenting consultations and solutions to domestic dog and cat owners.

Consultations related to dogs accounted for 63%, significantly more than the 37% related to cats. Dog owners mainly inquired about health management (43%), problem behavior training and correction (22%), and parenting methods (13%), while cat owners primarily asked about health management (44%), parenting methods (19%), and problem behavior training and correction (18%). For dogs, many consumers inquired about problem behaviors such as foreign object ingestion, barking, and aggression correction, whereas for cats, inquiries were mostly about parenting methods such as feeding methods and basic health care.

An AboutPet representative stated, “The Care Talk Consultation Service is a highly satisfactory service that provides customized solutions by having professional consultants understand various aspects such as the pet’s characteristics and temperament, parenting environment, and the relationship with the owner through one-on-one chat.” They added, “Having already handled 10,000 consultations this year alone, we will continue to strive to ensure a happy life for both pet owners and their animals.”
