Hanwha Group Chairman Kim Seung-yeon met with Edwin Feulner, Chairman of the Asia Studies Center at the Heritage Foundation in the United States, and shared a dinner while having a cordial conversation.
According to Hanwha Group on the 9th, Chairman Kim had a dinner lasting over two hours with Chairman Feulner the previous evening at The Plaza Hotel in Jung-gu, Seoul. The two reportedly engaged in in-depth discussions on global economic and diplomatic issues, as well as the promotion of friendly relations between Korea and the United States. Also attending the dinner were Kim Seung-yeon's eldest son, Kim Dong-gwan, Vice Chairman of Hanwha Solutions; his second son, Kim Dong-won, Vice President of Hanwha Life Insurance; and his third son, Kim Dong-sun, Executive Director of Hanwha Hotels & Resorts.
The Heritage Foundation is a leading American think tank. Emphasizing individual and corporate freedom, small government, and national defense, it exerts considerable influence on U.S. government policy decisions. This meeting took place as Edwin Feulner visited Korea to participate in a domestic forum exploring free market economy and the Korea-U.S. alliance.
This conversation with Chairman Feulner, known as the top Asia expert and a pro-Korea figure in the U.S., was the second this year following their meeting in April. Chairman Kim Seung-yeon continues active management activities based on his global network, having met with Edwin Feulner and former U.S. Vice President Mike Pence this year.
Edwin Feulner participated in founding the Heritage Foundation, a U.S. policy research institute, in 1973 and served as its chairman until 2013. He is a leading Asia expert in the U.S., having established the Asia Studies Center within the Heritage Foundation and currently serving as its chairman. He is known as a 'pro-Korea' figure with deep knowledge and diverse experience in Korea's politics, economy, and society.
The close friendship between Chairman Kim Seung-yeon and Edwin Feulner has continued for about 40 years since the early 1980s. Whenever possible, they have candidly exchanged opinions on Korea-U.S. issues as well as the overall international economy.
