[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] On the 8th, Nexon held a ‘Nexon G-Star 2022 Preview’ press conference at the 1994 Hall of Nexon’s Pangyo headquarters and revealed detailed information about nine titles to be showcased at the international game exhibition ‘G-Star 2022.’
Nexon will operate 300 booths, the largest single scale in the BTC hall, at ‘G-Star 2022’ held at BEXCO in Busan from the 17th to the 20th. For the first time in Nexon G-Star history, console platform demos will be available, allowing visitors to experience four demo titles?‘Mabinogi Mobile,’ ‘First Descendant,’ ‘KartRider: Drift,’ and ‘Dave the Diver’?across PC and mobile devices.
Additionally, new trailer videos for five new titles will be showcased, including the ‘Dungeon & Fighter’ IP-based new project ‘Project AK (Arad Chronicle: Kazan),’ ‘Project Overkill,’ MMORPG ‘Hwansae Chwihojeon Online,’ MMORTS ‘Godsome: Clash of God,’ and action MORPG ‘Night Walker.’
Jung-hyun Lee, CEO of Nexon, explained at the conference, “We designed the booth with visitor experience as the top priority,” adding, “Visitors will be able to try out four new titles on about 560 devices.”
'A Spectacular Return' Nexon Returns to G-Star After 4 Years
Nexon, participating offline in G-Star for the first time in four years, unveiled this year’s main slogan ‘Return (歸還)’ for the first time. ‘Return’ reflects Nexon’s commitment to presenting games developed with a ‘selection and concentration’ strategy since 2019, focusing on fun by returning to its original intentions.
The G-Star booth was also designed entirely to focus on experiencing the fun of games. The demo zone, composed of 300 booths?the largest single scale?was created in a decalcomania style centered around an overwhelmingly large central LED and expanded to two levels, installing about 560 demo devices.
This year, Nexon will showcase console demos for the first time ever at G-Star. The new global market-targeted root shooter ‘First Descendant’ will be available on PS5 and PC, while the hybrid ocean adventure ‘Dave the Diver’ will be offered on Nintendo Switch. Visitors can also experience ‘Mabinogi Mobile,’ which modernizes the original’s unique life content while putting more effort into combat and adventure. ‘KartRider: Drift,’ which is scheduled for a global pre-season open on January 12 next year, can be enjoyed on both PC and mobile platforms.
Five New Titles Including ‘Project AK’ and ‘Godsome’ Presented in Videos
The first trailer video of ‘Project AK (Arad Chronicle: Kazan),’ a new ‘Dungeon & Fighter’ universe title reborn on consoles, will be unveiled at G-Star. It offers a glimpse of another ‘Dungeon & Fighter’ set about 800 years before the original’s world. A video featuring actual gameplay of ‘Project Overkill,’ a next-generation 3D action RPG set 14 years before the original, showcasing its highly free eight-directional combat, will also be presented.
The main features of ‘Hwansae Chwihojeon Online,’ a casual MMORPG sequel to the popular 1990s title ‘Hwansae Chwihojeon,’ will be revealed for the first time through video. Visitors can catch a glimpse of original characters such as ‘Ataho,’ ‘Linxiang,’ and ‘Smashu,’ along with the graphics and cheerful sensibility of the original.
Alongside this, Nexon Games will reveal actual gameplay footage through the trailer of the MMORTS ‘Godsome: Clash of God,’ and a cinematic trailer video of the action MORPG ‘Night Walker,’ developed by AceStorm, will also be showcased.
On the same day, Nexon made a surprise announcement of another project. The teaser video of ‘Project DX,’ a new title based on the ‘Durango’ IP, was unveiled for the first time. Developed as an MMORPG, ‘Project DX’ incorporates the original’s dinosaurs, survival, and crafting elements along with unique gameplay features.
Additionally, news was shared about participation in the production of director Jang Hang-jun’s new film ‘Rebound.’ ‘Rebound’ tells the story of students from Busan Jungang High School’s basketball team who challenge their dreams with passion for basketball despite harsh conditions. Nexon stated that it invested in production to encourage the dreams and passion of youth.
CEO Lee said, “We are pleased to present a wide range of genres and platform titles that we have been preparing intensively to become a game company loved even more by gamers at G-Star,” adding, “As we return to the game festival scene after a long time, we will provide diverse entertainment for visitors who come to the venue.”
