Sacheon, the Aerospace Agency City, Contributes to Improving Aircraft Accident Response Capabilities
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Sacheon City, Gyeongnam Province, will conduct the "2022 Disaster Response Safety Korea Drill" for two weeks from the 14th to the 25th to inspect the disaster response system and establish a cooperative system with related organizations in preparation for large-scale disasters.
This Disaster Response Safety Korea Drill is a comprehensive exercise aimed at protecting the lives and property of citizens from various disasters, and it is held annually with the goal of enhancing national disaster response capabilities and spreading a safety culture.
In 2020 and 2021, due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, the Disaster Response Safety Korea Drill was conducted remotely through cyber education and discussion training.
This year, discussion training and on-site training will be conducted concurrently. On the 23rd, a discussion training focused on problem-solving will be held by assuming an aircraft accident situation, including a situation assessment meeting and the activation and operation of the Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters.
In particular, on the 24th, an on-site training jointly hosted by 10 organizations including Sacheon City and Korea Airports Corporation Sacheon Airport will also be conducted.
The on-site training is a large-scale comprehensive exercise at Sacheon Airport apron, involving aircraft accident recovery and a complex search and suppression operation suspected of terrorism.
A city official stated, "Through this training, we plan to strengthen disaster response capabilities and cooperation functions with related organizations in the event of an aircraft accident," adding, "We will do our best to protect the lives and property of citizens."
