Request for Cooperation and Attention at the Level of the Japanese National Diet
[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Eun-mo] On the 4th, President Yoon Suk-yeol met with Japanese lawmakers belonging to the Japan-Korea Parliamentarians' Union and requested active cooperation and interest from the Japanese National Diet to expand human exchanges between the two countries.
The Presidential Office stated that during the 30-minute meeting, President Yoon emphasized that expanding multifaceted human exchanges between Korea and Japan holds significant importance in laying the foundation for the development of bilateral relations, and asked for cooperation and interest from the Japanese National Diet. Additionally, he requested that the Japan-Korea and Korea-Japan Parliamentarians' Union, a friendship group of lawmakers from both countries, take the lead in exchanges between the two legislative bodies.
Chairman Nukaga Fukushiro said that the Japan-Korea Parliamentarians' Union will continue efforts to ensure that the positive atmosphere recently created in bilateral relations leads to improvements. He also expressed condolences regarding the Itaewon tragedy.
Present at the meeting were Chairman Nukaga, Secretary-General Takeda Ryota, Steering Committee Chairman Nakagawa Masaharu, Vice Chairmen Suzuki Muneo and Akaba Kazuyoshi, and other executives of the Japan-Korea Parliamentarians' Union. From the Korean National Assembly's Korea-Japan Parliamentarians' Union, Chairman Jeong Jin-seok, Secretary-General Yoon Ho-jung, Vice Chairman Kim Seok-ki, and Standing Secretary Seong Il-jong attended together.
