The Academy of Korean Studies 'Digital Humanities Conference'
Exploring New Approaches Under the Theme of 'Coexistence and Exploration'
An academic conference envisioning the future of Digital Humanities (DH) education will take place. The Digital Humanities Research Institute at the Academy of Korean Studies, the Korean Digital Humanities Association, and PCN will hold the "Digital Humanities Conference" on the 5th at the small auditorium of the Academy of Korean Studies. Under the theme "Coexistence and Exploration of Digital Humanities Education," researchers will share opinions and devise new methods.
The presentations and discussions will be divided into detailed topics such as "DH Education & Challenges," "DH Education & Field," "DH Education & Encounters," and "DH Education & Foundation." In the "DH Education & Challenges" session, KAIST researcher Kim Byung-jun will present "Humanities and Social Sciences Insight and Digital Literacy: KAIST Digital Humanities and Social Sciences Department Education," and Seoul National University professor Heo Soo will present "Seoul National University's Efforts to Enhance Humanities Education - Focusing on Cultivating Digital Literacy."
In the "DH Education & Field" session, researchers Kim Hyun-seung, Park Hyun-jung, and Lee Hanna from the Digital Humanities Research Institute, along with Lee So-young, curator of the Royal Cuisine Research Institute, will discuss "The 1848 Night Banquet at Tongmyeongjeon, Changgyeonggung Palace, Viewed through Virtual Reproductions." Researchers Kim Hae-in and Kim Hyuk from the Digital Humanities Research Institute will respectively present "Introduction of New Technologies by Emperor Gojong Seen through Digital Curation" and "The Meaning of Networks in the Hanyangdoseong Time Machine: Through the Network Representation of Namdaemun."
In the "DH Education & Encounters" session, Professor Kim Yong-su of Hallym University and Professor Lee Jae-yeon of Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology will take the stage. They will introduce "Hallym University Digital Humanities and Arts Major: Achievements and Challenges of DH Education" and "Development and Teaching Experience of Digital Humanities and AI-Linked Courses: A Case from a Science and Technology Specialized University," respectively. In the "DH Education & Foundation" session, Professor Lee Young-je of Korea University will explain "Design and Practice of Digital Humanities Curriculum," and Professor Park Jung-won of Hankuk University of Foreign Studies will describe "Hankuk University of Foreign Studies Data Curation Curriculum and Educational Platform Strategy."
The subsequent comprehensive discussion will be chaired by Kim Hyun, chairman of the Korean Digital Humanities Association. Together with participants, they will explore effective measures under the theme "Coexistence and Exploration of Digital Humanities Education." The event will be broadcast live via YouTube and Zoom.
