'Ulleung-gun' District Kim Byung-wook: "Kim Jong-un and North Korea Will Gain Nothing but Miserable Isolation"

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] North Korea launched a ballistic missile south of the Northern Limit Line (NLL) toward Ulleungdo for the first time in history on this day, prompting an air raid alert on Ulleungdo. In response, Kim Byung-wook, a member of the People Power Party representing Ulleung County, condemned North Korea.

On the morning of the 2nd, Kim raised his voice through his social network service (SNS), saying, "I strongly condemn North Korea's military provocations that threaten the lives and safety of the people of Ulleung County and our citizens."

He added, "Kim Jong-un and the North Korean regime, who are playing war games by taking compatriots hostage, will gain nothing but miserable isolation," and stated, "Our government must take this incident as an opportunity to thoroughly ensure the safety of Ulleung County residents and tourists, immediately inspect evacuation facilities and plans, and promptly carry out improvement projects if any deficiencies are found."

Meanwhile, President Yoon Suk-yeol ordered an emergency National Security Council (NSC) meeting in response to the ballistic missile launch news on the same day.
