[Seoul District News] Yeongdeungpo-gu Renovates and Repairs 9,300㎡ Old Inline Rink under Sinjeonggyo Bridge on Anyangcheon by December & Creates Comprehensive Sports Facility with Futsal, X-Games, Inline and Athletics Tracks ... Gangdong-gu Reopens Haegong Sports Culture Center after Renovation ... Jongno-gu Produces and Distributes 'Architectural Administration Guide'
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] The 9,300㎡ inline skating rink located beneath Sinjeonggyo Bridge along Anyangcheon Stream will be reborn as a space where various sports activities can be enjoyed.
Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that it will carry out a project to expand and improve the sports facilities at the Anyangcheon inline skating rink by December this year to create a safe and pleasant sports culture environment.
Since its establishment in 2006, the Anyangcheon inline skating rink with an asphalt track has become outdated, resulting in low usage rates, and there have been continuous demands for facility improvements and diversification.
Accordingly, the district secured 650 million KRW in city funds and will invest a total of 1.4 billion KRW to create comprehensive community sports facilities at the Anyangcheon inline skating rink, including a futsal field, X-game park, inline skating and athletics tracks. Construction will begin in early November and is scheduled to be completed by the end of December, when it will be newly unveiled to residents.
The futsal field will have official dimensions of 40m in length and 20m in width, and artificial turf with a low risk of injury will be installed based on user preferences. With two additional fields, the shortage of futsal fields that has caused difficulties for club members and residents is expected to be resolved.
Additionally, the X-game park, measuring 35m by 15m, will be equipped with facilities such as a half-pyramid and bank ramp, allowing for various sports activities. The existing worn asphalt inline skating track will be renovated and upgraded to a polyurethane inline skating track and a urethane athletics track to reduce injury risks and increase user satisfaction.
Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, said, “We are making great efforts to expand sports infrastructure considering the demand for community sports across various generations to contribute to the health promotion of our residents. We hope that Anyangcheon, which has been transformed into a resident-friendly space including the newly developed sports facilities under Sinjeonggyo Bridge, waterfront walking trails, and rose gardens, will become a healing space for all residents.”
Gangdong-gu (District Mayor Lee Soo-hee) has renovated the aging Haegong Sports and Culture Center and reopened it on the 2nd.
Completed in 1986, the Haegong Sports and Culture Center had an aging floor in the auxiliary gymnasium that was cracked and separated, making it inconvenient for residents to use, and the fence had collapsed, indicating severe deterioration.
In response, the district applied for the '2022 Public Sports Facility Renovation Support Project' by the Korea Sports Promotion Foundation, receiving 92 million KRW in national funds and allocating an additional 92 million KRW from the district budget to carry out the renovation project.
The brick fence was replaced with a low, open-style barred fence to create a sense of openness, and the backyard of the gymnasium was transformed into a resting area, making it an open space accessible to everyone.
Furthermore, the auxiliary gymnasium floor was replaced with high-quality maple wood, transforming it into an eco-friendly and pleasant exercise space.
In addition, nine illegal street vendor stalls within the gymnasium premises were cleared, tree branches were pruned to address complaints from nearby residents caused by ginkgo leaves and fruits in autumn, and the faded exterior walls of the building were neatly repainted.
The district expects that the renovation of the aging facilities at Haegong Sports and Culture Center will greatly help residents improve their health by providing safe and comfortable public sports facilities.

The booklet is composed of ▲General Section ▲Jongno Section ▲Illegal Construction Section ▲Q&A, and it details the general permit procedures from construction approval to occupancy approval, as well as related review contents, including traditional Korean houses (Hanok), district unit planning zones, and cultural assets within Jongno.
