The District Mayors' Council, composed of five autonomous districts in Gwangju (Chairman Kim Byung-nae, Mayor of Nam-gu), expressed in a condolence statement, "We cannot hide our grief over the Seoul Itaewon accident. We pray for the repose of the deceased and offer our deepest condolences to the bereaved families who cannot hide their shock over the sudden loss of their loved ones."

They added, "We hope for the speedy recovery of those currently receiving treatment in hospitals."

They also said, "Together with the 1.5 million citizens of Gwangju, we share the sorrow and pain of the victims and their families, and we will spare no support in managing the aftermath and investigating the cause of the accident."

Furthermore, they stated, "We will thoroughly review the manuals for safety management and crisis response to ensure that such a tragedy never happens again, and we extend our deep gratitude to the medical staff, police officers, and firefighters who have been working tirelessly at the scene every day."
