[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] On the afternoon of the 29th, Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo District Office, attended the ‘Children and Youth Policy Festival’ held at Mullae Neighborhood Park and enjoyed a quiz event with children.
At the ‘Children and Youth Policy Festival’ held that day, a policy promotion hall where visitors could see Yeongdeungpo District’s children and youth policies at a glance, a youth autonomous cultural space, the Dadream Complex Cultural Center, and other children and youth facilities and institutions were available for hands-on policy experiences. Additionally, a play zone filled with attractions such as a Halloween photo zone and face painting was operated.
Mayor Choi Ho-kwon said, “Through this event, I hope people increased their interest in Yeongdeungpo, where they live, and in district administration, and had a meaningful time creating precious memories with family and friends. We will continue to do our best to make Yeongdeungpo a district where all children can grow up healthy and happy.”
Mapo District (Mayor Park Gang-su) held a series of meaningful events on the 29th, created and participated in directly by residents.
At Yanghwajin History Park in Hapjeong-dong, the ‘3rd Hapjeong-dong Dream Festival,’ planned and participated in by Hapjeong-dong residents, was held, providing a rich program including various cultural performances, family games, and prize draws, fostering communication and harmony among residents.
On the same day, in Mangwon 1-dong, the ‘Mangwon-gyeong Story Fashion Show,’ where residents participated as models, took place. Under the theme ‘The life of neighbors becomes a festival,’ residents wore clothes filled with their own memories and came to the event venue. About 60 residents, ranging from 4-year-old children to 70-year-old seniors, walked the runway as the main characters of the fashion show.
Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo District, who participated in the event, said, “Because this is a festival created and participated in directly by residents, it will be a more meaningful and memorable event. We will actively support the activation of village community events where residents lead and become the main characters.”
Dongdaemun District (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) successfully concluded the 2022 Dongdaemun District Book Festival held on the outdoor stage of Baebongsan Neighborhood Park on the 29th.
This festival was planned and prepared from start to finish by about 20 public, private, and school libraries, organizations, and local residents to spread a reading atmosphere through a book festival sharing fun and emotion and to promote local libraries.
The event, which started at 1 p.m., featured library experience booths including ▲AR augmented reality coloring book experience ▲Metaverse library experience ▲math board game zone ▲science playground ▲natural soap making ▲my own book making ▲Halloween book art ▲wish bracelet making ▲Hangul Day card making, and more. At the book exchange booth, participants could exchange three used books (only books published after 2019) for one new book.
Along with booth operations, a variety of performances and attractions were provided. Before the event, there was a vocal performance by the acoustic duo Art Team and a magic show by youth magician Real Magic Lee Hyung-woo. At the ceremony, awards were given to those who contributed to library operations and certificates were presented to families who read books together. From 3 p.m., there was a meeting with picture book author Cheon Mi-jin (notable work: Summer Taste).
A resident who attended the event with their child said, “It was nice to experience books playfully with my child while feeling the autumn atmosphere at Baebongsan, where the autumn leaves were deeply colored. I was satisfied that my child seemed to develop an interest in reading through the rich programs. I want to participate again next year.”
Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun District, said, “I hope this festival will be an opportunity for residents to visit libraries again, and we will continue to plan various programs to promote reading culture.”
On the 29th at 11:30 a.m., Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon District, attended the ‘2022 Companion Animal Culture Festival’ held at Nohae Sports Park.
Nowon Banham, celebrating its 5th year, had this year’s theme as ‘Petiquette We Create Together (Pet + Etiquette).’ The festival featured 30 programs including ▲Petiquette stamp tour ▲Happy walking class ▲Free behavior correction counseling ▲Companion animal awareness improvement campaign.
The opening ceremony was attended by Mayor Oh Seung-rok, city and district council members, guests, and residents, and included introductions of guests, greetings and congratulatory speeches, a birthday party for abandoned dogs at Dangdang House, a picket campaign, performances, a raffle, a Petiquette sports day, OX quizzes, and event games.
