[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Choi] Naver announced on the 28th that it will introduce a ‘Review Mission’ program on MYPlace starting in November.
Naver MYPlace is a service where users can check and interact with other users’ place reviews in a social networking service (SNS) feed format and explore location information. Reviews are evolving from being used solely as references for business evaluations to becoming ‘content’ that helps users find places worth visiting and serves as a medium for user communication.
The Review Mission is designed to encourage the creation of high-quality local information reviews and to support the establishment of a ‘Good Reviewer’ culture through various events. It features a structure that increases review diversity while maintaining user engagement, similar to the existing ‘Receipt Verification’ event.
The missions are broadly divided into ▲Review Participation Missions and ▲‘Good Reviewer’ Missions. First, the Review Participation Mission awards points in stages when users complete 5 reviews (50 points), 10 reviews (200 points), and 15 reviews (500 points). Additionally, every month, 1,000 users who write receipt reviews are selected by lottery to receive an extra 10,000 points.
The ‘Good Reviewer’ Mission is designed to further activate high-quality reviews. Points are awarded to users who complete missions such as ▲Regional Stamping (writing 5 reviews in a specific area) and ▲My Current Favorite Food (writing 5 reviews of one type of food). In particular, among reviewers who post more than 10 high-quality reviews including photos, twenty are selected as ‘Reviewer of the Month’ and receive an additional 10,000 points.
The mission structure will be updated to reflect user trends in the local sector. For example, during winter, when demand for winter sports information is high, a ski resort visit review mission will be added to activate related reviews, creating a MYPlace environment that meets users’ information needs.
Lee Yung-sung, Head of Naver Place Review, said, “With the much-loved Receipt Verification event and user participation, place reviews are now emerging as core content in the process of exploring places that match one’s taste. The Review Mission will help activate diverse reviews of various places, and we will continue to gather MYPlace user feedback to provide more enjoyable event experiences.”
