The '2022 Carbon Neutrality EXPO (2022 NET ZERO EXPO)', which explores the present and future of carbon neutrality in the industrial sector, will be held.
The event will take place over three days from Wednesday, November 2 to Friday, November 4, at Halls 6, 7, and 8 of the Kintex 2 Exhibition Center in Ilsan. It is hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and jointly organized by the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology, and the Korea Industrial Intelligence Association.
Under the theme "The Beginning of Carbon Neutral Industrial Transformation," approximately 100 domestic and international companies, including leading carbon-neutral enterprises (large, medium-sized, small, and startups), public enterprises, research institutions (private and public), and foreign companies, have confirmed participation with 424 booths.
Within the exhibition halls, an 'Exhibition and Promotion Hall' will be operated where visitors can simultaneously explore key technologies of leading carbon-neutral companies as well as global new technologies and products. The Exhibition and Promotion Hall is divided into three main sections by industry: the Carbon Neutrality Special Pavilion, the Public Sector Pavilion, and the Private Sector Pavilion.
During the three-day event, seminars will be held as a platform for information exchange among industry, academia, research, and government sectors to learn about carbon neutrality in the industrial sector.
On the first day, November 2, a seminar on carbon neutrality policies and financial tax support will be held. In the morning, the first speaker will be Senior Research Fellow Eunmi Jeong from the Korea Institute for Industrial Economics and Trade, who will discuss "Key Tasks for Promoting Carbon Neutrality in the Industrial Sector." Following this, Deputy Research Fellow Jongwoo Kim from the Energy and Carbon Neutrality Research Division at the Korea Energy Economics Institute will present on "The Korean RE100 System and Future Challenges," which is essential for domestic companies.
In the afternoon, Senior Research Fellow Seungje Sung from the Korea Legislation Research Institute will share "Tax and Financial Measures to Promote Carbon Neutral Transition." Then, Deputy Manager Wooksang Ahn from the ESG Planning Department of the Korea Development Bank will introduce "Green Finance by the Korea Development Bank for Korea’s Carbon Neutrality."
On the second and final days, November 3 and 4, seminars will showcase excellent carbon technologies, successful cases of technology transfer and commercialization, and new carbon-neutral technologies and products, providing an opportunity to see carbon-neutral related technologies currently commercialized by public institutions and companies. All seminar sessions are free to attend with admission to the exhibition hall.
Kim Taehee, team leader of the Korea Industrial Intelligence Association, said, "With the expansion of government carbon policies, more companies are undergoing or preparing for new technology transitions domestically. We hope many people will attend and that this seminar will serve as an opportunity to exchange carbon policies, support systems, and excellent carbon-neutral technologies."
Currently, the 2022 Carbon Neutrality EXPO is accepting online pre-registrations until October 31, and pre-registered visitors can enter the venue free of charge. More detailed information about the event can be found on the official website.
Meanwhile, special events for visitors attending the venue have also been prepared. First, by finding and scanning five hidden QR codes throughout the exhibition hall and answering carbon neutrality-related quizzes, participants can enter a random drawing to win generous prizes such as the Apple Watch Series 8 and Shinsegae gift certificates worth 30,000 KRW, making it a fun way to build knowledge about carbon neutrality. Additionally, a carbon neutrality participation pledge event will be held to encourage visitors to contribute to carbon reduction through small daily actions.
