Ulleung County Residents' Day and the 53rd County Sports Festival were successfully held on the 25th.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter An Kyungho] The 2022 Ullung County Residents' Day and the 53rd County Sports Festival, jointly hosted by Ullung County, Gyeongbuk, and the Ullung County Sports Association, were held successfully on the 25th.

This event, held for the first time in three years due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, was attended by about 2,000 residents and featured performances by Jangheung Nongak Troupe, Ullung Dokdori Nanta Team, Seom Woollim Choir, Arang Gogo Janggu, an aerobics team, and invited singers.

This year's County Residents Award honoring those who have brightened the region included Lee Kyung-tae, chairman of the Village Lifelong Education Leaders' Association, in the individual education development category; the Ullung County Life Improvement Council in the social service organization category; and a special award went to Han Bo-geun, a native of Ullung and mayor of Ocheon-eup, Pohang City.

Additionally, Choi Si-young, chief of the Donghae Maritime Police Station, and Do Jin, head of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism, were awarded honorary citizenship certificates of Ullung County, and former Ullung County Governor Kim Byung-soo received a plaque of appreciation from the Ullung County Sports Association.

Jeodong won first place with excellent results in various categories; the workplace division was won by the Ullung County Council, and the high school division by Dodong. The Most Valuable Player awards were given to Lee Seung-eon and Image, players from the Jeodong team.

County Governor Nam Han-kwon said, “I hope this was a precious time to feel the unity of the residents and the proud pride of Ullung people.”
