"Just Sit and Automatically Tour the Exhibition"… KT's 'Autonomous Smart Robot Chair' Pilot Operation

Avoiding Other Visitors and Taking Complex Routes
Preparing for Commercialization After Pilot Operation

"Just Sit and Automatically Tour the Exhibition"… KT's 'Autonomous Smart Robot Chair' Pilot Operation Visitors are viewing exhibits at Dongdaemun Design Plaza using KT autonomous smart robot chairs.

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-seon] KT announced on the 25th that it will conduct a three-week pilot operation of the 'Autonomous Smart Robot Chair' for exhibition visitors at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza (hereinafter DDP) design showroom and design hall in Jung-gu, Seoul, in collaboration with the Seoul Design Foundation. Visitors to DDP until the 11th of next month can ride the autonomous smart robot chair and view special NFT exhibitions and more in the Design Hall space on the 3rd floor of the Design Lab.

The autonomous smart robot chair is a wheelchair-type boarding robot that autonomously follows a course to assist visitors in viewing exhibits once they board. It is equipped with obstacle collision detection and automatic stop functions, as well as route detour technology to ensure the safety of the rider, artworks, and other visitors. The autonomous smart robot chair was jointly developed by integrating KT's communication and robot platform, Daedong Mobility's hardware, and Koga Robotics' autonomous driving technology. Based on the results of this pilot operation at DDP, the product will be further advanced and prepared for commercialization.

KT expects the autonomous smart robot chair to become a robot solution that supports the viewing experience of socially vulnerable groups not only in exhibition spaces such as art galleries and museums but also in various locations including airports, train stations, hospitals, and hotels. Since last year, KT has been expanding its robot business based on its self-developed robot platform, including AI quarantine robots and AI service robots.
