[Asia Economy Reporter Yujin Cho] Mark Hamill, the famous actor from the movie 'Star Wars,' has supported Ukraine with over 500 drones through fundraising activities, Bloomberg reported on the 22nd (local time).
Hamill appeared on Bloomberg Radio's 'Sound On' and revealed that more than 500 drones have been delivered to Ukraine since he took on the role of ambassador for a fundraising project supporting the Ukrainian drone forces.
He emphasized that drones play a crucial role in helping Ukraine repel Russian forces, stating, "Drones protect Ukrainian territory and people and monitor the borders. Drones are the eyes in the sky."
Since the end of last month, Hamill has been serving as an ambassador for the drone fundraising campaign led by United24, a fundraising organization of the Ukrainian government.
In a statement at that time, he referred to Russia as the "Empire of Evil" and said, "Ukraine needs drones to protect its territory, freedom, and the values of the entire democratic world."
Hamill played the Jedi Knight 'Luke Skywalker,' who fights against the Galactic Empire in the 'Star Wars' series.
Earlier this month, Hamill also posted an image on Twitter criticizing Russia and supporting Ukraine by borrowing the storyline of Star Wars.
In this image, Russia was depicted as the Empire's massive starship 'Star Destroyer,' while Ukraine was portrayed as the rebels' main fighter, the 'X-Wing.'
