[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] On the 21st, Kim Tae-woo, Mayor of Gangseo District, attended the ‘77th Police Day Ceremony’ held at the Gangseo Police Station auditorium and conveyed his congratulations.
The event, hosted by Gangseo Police Station (Chief Kim Won-tae), was held with about 200 attendees including Mayor Kim Tae-woo, invited guests, and police officials.
The ‘Police Day Ceremony’ was divided into two parts: the first part was a commemorative ceremony, and the second part was a congratulatory performance. The ceremony included ▲opening remarks ▲guest congratulatory speeches ▲Police Day arm wrestling competition ▲awards for meritorious service, and the second part’s congratulatory performance was held at 6 p.m. on the same day at KOMCA HALL of the Korea Music Copyright Association (Chairman Choo Ga-yeol).
Notably, during the ceremony, Gangseo District Office, Gangseo Police Station, and the Korea Music Copyright Association signed a business agreement to support cultural and artistic events and mutual cooperation for local public safety, adding significance to the occasion.
Mayor Kim Tae-woo said, “I deeply appreciate the hard work of police officers who work day and night on the front lines of public safety to ensure the safety of residents and the realization of a just society,” and added, “I hope the police will continue to protect the socially vulnerable and always stand by the residents, safeguarding their property and safety with warmth.”
On the 21st, Jeong Moon-heon, Mayor of Jongno District, participated in the ‘END Violence’ online campaign jointly hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the UNICEF Korea Committee to eradicate child violence.
This campaign is a global awareness campaign conducted jointly by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and UNICEF to eliminate violence against children and adolescents.
Mayor Jeong, who joined the challenge upon the nomination of Lee Seong-heon, Mayor of Seodaemun District, nominated Park Kang-soo, Mayor of Mapo District, Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon District, and Lee Gwan-hyung, Chief of Hyehwa Police Station, as the next participants.
Mayor Jeong Moon-heon stated, “Since receiving the first certification as a child-friendly city in 2017 to create a ‘Happy Jongno where all children are respected and loved,’ we have been carrying out various related projects,” and added, “We will continue to promote substantial child-friendly policies so that all children can enjoy their rightful rights, be protected, and grow up healthily.”
On the afternoon of the 21st, Lee Ki-jae, Mayor of Yangcheon District, attended the ‘2022 Talent Sharing Festival’ held at Yangcheon Park and donated a cherished tea cup and plate set, filled with family memories, to the auction for helping neighbors.
Organized by the Yangcheon Volunteer Center, this festival was prepared to add ▲art (performances) ▲environment (upcycling) ▲sharing (food) ▲memories (photo zone) to everyday life through talent sharing, and was successfully concluded with about 500 residents and volunteers attending.
In particular, the donation of cherished items by key figures and the auction corner for helping neighbors added special meaning. All proceeds from this festival will be donated to the Yangcheon Love Welfare Foundation.
Mayor Lee Ki-jae said, “Thanks to the passion and dedication of Yangcheon volunteers who serve with a heart that loves the region, our Yangcheon District is becoming a ‘city where people want to live and live well,’” and added, “I hope many people will create happy memories through this talent sharing festival that adds vitality to daily life.”
Geumcheon District (Mayor Yoo Sung-hoon) announced on the 20th that Shin Young Precision Co., Ltd. (Chairman Shin Chang-seok) donated 10 million won to the Geumcheon Future Scholarship Foundation for the development of education in Geumcheon District.
The donation ceremony was held in the small conference room of Geumcheon District Office with the attendance of Yoo Sung-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon District, Park Joon-sik, Chairman of the Geumcheon Future Scholarship Foundation, and eight others including Shin Young Precision officials.
Shin Young Precision participated in Seoul’s Happy Housing policy by constructing Shin Young Youth Future Housing on the site of its headquarters building in Doksan-dong, Geumcheon District.
Chairman Shin Chang-seok of Shin Young Precision said, “Following the construction of youth future housing for young people and newlyweds, I am pleased to be able to contribute to scholarship projects for Geumcheon District youth.”
Park Joon-sik, Chairman of the Geumcheon Future Scholarship Foundation, said, “We will do our best to promote scholarship projects for students who do not lose their dreams and continue to strive despite difficult circumstances.”
Mayor Yoo Sung-hoon of Geumcheon District said, “We appreciate Shin Young Precision’s social contribution for the development of education and nurturing future talents in Geumcheon District, and we will continue to strive to expand educational projects for youth.”
On the morning of the 21st, Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo District, visited the snow removal vulnerable area in Singil 4-dong to inspect the snow removal material storage box.
On that day, Mayor Choi Ho-kwon conducted an on-site tour of Singil 4-dong, held an award ceremony for exemplary residents, and had a meeting with heads of occupational organizations. After touring facilities such as the fitness center and library, he conducted a patrol of snow removal vulnerable areas.
Mayor Choi Ho-kwon said, “It was a meaningful time to meet and communicate directly with residents on site and exchange candid opinions about district administration,” and added, “I will listen carefully to residents’ voices, big and small, and work to make Yeongdeungpo a city where everyone wants to live.”
On the 21st, the Seongbuk-gu Wolgok Artificial Turf Field hosted the Seongbuk District Residents’ Sports Festival, which had been suspended for three years due to the COVID-19 spread, under the clear and clean October autumn sky.
This event was filled with a variety of games that people of all ages could enjoy, along with lively cheering performances by residents, creating a colorful spectacle.
Dongdaemun District (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) held the ‘2022 Dongdaemun District Senior Citizens Cultural Festival’ for 900 senior citizens from 10 a.m. on the 21st at the plaza in front of the district office and the second-floor multipurpose auditorium.
Hosted by the Dongdaemun Senior Welfare Center (Director Kim Yoon-tae), this event resumed after a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19, attracting great interest from senior citizens.
The day’s program began with a Nanta performance and a senior women’s choir performance, followed by awards for contributors to senior welfare and a congratulatory performance by national singer Song Dae-gwan, providing a rich variety of entertainment. Additionally, booths such as paper flower photo zones and roulette quizzes were operated in front of the district office, allowing seniors to participate in various activities, which received enthusiastic responses.
Mayor Lee Pil-hyung said, “Seeing seniors come out and enjoy cultural performances after two years made me feel happy as well,” and added, “We will do our best to provide various cultural festivals that residents can participate in together in the future.”
