This is attributed to the surprise Q3 earnings announcement by the global online video streaming service (OTT) company Netflix. Consequently, other content-related companies such as Contentsree Central, Chorokbaem Media, and Studio Dragon are also experiencing a rise.
As of 9:51 AM today, AStory is trading on the KOSDAQ market at 23,650 KRW, up 15.65% compared to the previous trading day.
At the same time, Contentsree Central (2.52%), Studio Dragon (3.48%), Chorokbaem Media (4.17%), and KeyEast (15.16%) are also showing upward trends.
On the 18th (local time), Netflix announced that its subscriber base increased by 2.41 million in Q3 compared to the previous quarter.
This figure is more than double the market expectation (1.07 million), with 1.43 million of the new subscribers added in the Asia-Pacific region.
Netflix explained that Korean content such as 'Extraordinary Attorney Woo' helped attract new viewers.
Revenue rose 6% compared to a year ago to $7.93 billion (approximately 11.3 trillion KRW), and earnings per share reached $3.10, both exceeding market expectations.
