Haenam-gun Achieves Grand Prize at Korea SNS Awards for 3 Consecutive Years

Active Communication with Residents via SNS, Recognized for Achievements Including 1 Million YouTube Views

[Haenam=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] On the 17th, Jeonnam Haenam-gun announced that it received the Grand Prize in the Public Sector Basic Local Government category at the 12th Korea SNS Awards hosted by the Korea Social Content Promotion Association.


In particular, Haenam-gun has been honored with awards every year at the Korea SNS Awards since 2019, gaining recognition for its top-level SNS promotional achievements nationwide, receiving the Excellence Award in 2019 and the Grand Prize for three consecutive years from 2020.


The Korea SNS Awards is the most prestigious award in Korea, given annually to institutions that actively communicate with citizens by comprehensively evaluating SNS operation status. This year, a total of 81 companies and public sector organizations participated in the contest. After quantitative evaluation and a second round of judging involving experts and public voting, Haenam-gun received the highest vote rate in the public sector and was highly evaluated.


The county has been promoting social media (SNS) marketing as a key task of county administration, informing the public about county policies, Haenam’s history, culture, tourism, and specialties through Facebook, YouTube, blogs, and more.


The YouTube channel promoting Haenam’s charm is directly produced and hosted by public officials, creating promotional content in video form, achieving 1 million views in just over two years since its launch.


Additionally, Facebook followers have exceeded 36,000, ranking first among county-level units in Jeonnam Province.


Especially this year, the SNS characters ‘Ttangkkeuti’ and ‘Huimangi’ emoticons were created and distributed for free, while expanding video content production through YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, and more, gaining popularity. Online and offline promotional activities using SNS reporters, SNS storytellers, and influencers are also actively conducted.


Through this, the county actively communicates with residents about overall county administration, and it is considered rare for a county-level unit to have such active citizen participation through SNS.


Myung Hyun-gwan, Haenam County Governor, said, “Since the 7th local government, we have focused on communication with residents through SNS, resulting in good outcomes,” and added, “We will continue to strengthen SNS marketing that promotes Haenam nationwide and communicates and empathizes with residents in line with the times.”
