2023 Academic Year New Students, Full Tuition Support for One Year

Paving the Way for Semiconductor Talent Development... Daegu Catholic University Department of Semiconductor Electronics Selected for Specialized Department 'Innovation Support Project' Daegu Catholic University.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yeo Jong-gu] The Department of Semiconductor and Electronic Engineering at Daegu Catholic University has been selected for the "2022 Regional Industry-Linked University Specialized Department Innovation Support Project" hosted by Gyeongbuk Province.


Following this selection, the Department of Semiconductor and Electronic Engineering will receive 2.6 billion KRW in project funding from Gyeongbuk Province and Gyeongsan City by 2026 to cultivate semiconductor talents leading the Fourth Industrial Revolution era.


Additionally, Gumi City, which signed a talent development agreement for the semiconductor industry with Daegu Catholic University, will also provide partial project funding support.


Daegu Catholic University plans to reorganize the existing Electronic Engineering major into the Department of Semiconductor and Electronic Engineering starting from the 2023 academic year, aiming to nurture experts in semiconductor design and manufacturing processes tailored to regional industries, as well as experts in semiconductor equipment control and operation. The curriculum will be operated in five stages: ▲Basic Major Courses ▲Basic Practical Skills ▲Advanced Major Courses ▲Advanced Practical Skills ▲Field Application.


Furthermore, the university will promote programs linked to on-site training and employment/startups in cooperation with over 60 companies with hiring agreements, and plans to fully cover tuition fees for new students enrolling in the 2023 academic year for one year.


Professor Kim Bong-hwan, the lead professor, stated, "We will do our best to successfully carry out the project to contribute to university innovation and the co-growth of the local community by establishing a close cooperative system with the core industries of the Gyeongsan region such as automotive parts and precision machinery processing, and the semiconductor and display industries in the Gumi region."


The Regional Industry-Linked University Specialized Department Innovation Support Project is an initiative promoted by Gyeongbuk Province since 2020 to strengthen university competitiveness and encourage outstanding talents to settle in the region.
