Namwon-si Offers Free Influenza Vaccination for Residents Aged 65 and Over

[Namwon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Young-gwon] Namwon City, Jeonbuk (Mayor Choi Kyung-sik) announced on the 13th that free influenza vaccinations for seniors aged 65 and over have been carried out at designated entrusted medical institutions since the 12th.

The vaccination target is seniors aged 65 and over (born on or before December 31, 1957), and they can receive the vaccination at nearby hospitals or clinics by presenting an ID card.

This year, as an influenza epidemic advisory has been issued and social distancing measures have been eased, the possibility of an influenza outbreak is high due to decreased natural immunity during the period when influenza did not spread. Therefore, it is important to get vaccinated at an appropriate time considering the influenza epidemic period for prevention.

From the 19th, the public health center will also provide vaccinations for seniors aged 65 and over, as well as Namwon citizens aged 60-64, persons with disabilities, basic livelihood security recipients, lower-income groups, single-parent families, multicultural families, and national merit recipients.

Eligible individuals can visit the public health center, health branch offices, or clinics with their ID cards, welfare cards, etc., to receive the vaccination.

Han Yong-jae, head of Namwon Public Health Center, said, "As we prepare for the so-called 'twindemic,' where COVID-19 and influenza spread simultaneously, influenza vaccination is necessary, so we hope for active participation."
