[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Ambassador Jeong Jae-ho to China stated on the 9th, "We will strengthen strategic communication between Korea and China to resolve the North Korean nuclear issue."

During the National Assembly Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee's video conference briefing on the National Assembly inspection of the Korean Embassy in China, Ambassador Jeong said, "We will strive to secure a constructive role from the Chinese side." He expressed the intention to gain support for the South Korean government's denuclearization efforts and roles, including peaceful resolution of the North Korean nuclear issue through dialogue, and the development of inter-Korean and North Korea-US relations. He also stated that continuous consultations will be held regarding China's constructive contributions to the faithful implementation of United Nations Security Council resolutions and the resumption of denuclearization talks.

He also mentioned President Xi Jinping's visit to Korea. Ambassador Jeong emphasized, "On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Korea-China diplomatic relations, we will continue the momentum of high-level exchanges and promote a healthier and more mature development of Korea-China relations," adding, "We will maintain close communication under the consensus on the importance of high-level exchanges, including the visit of President Xi."

Considering the recent controversy over the Chinese National Museum's exhibition of a Korean history timeline excluding Goguryeo and Balhae, Ambassador Jeong said, "We will regularly inspect museums, history textbooks, and historic sites, and raise issues with the Chinese side and urge correction if historical distortions are found."
