[Asia Economy Reporter Seomideum] As of 9 PM on the 6th, the number of new COVID-19 cases nationwide was in the low 20,000s.


According to Seoul Metropolitan Government and other local governments, from midnight to 9 PM on this day, 21,272 people across 17 cities and provinces nationwide were confirmed positive for COVID-19. This is 6,407 fewer than the same time the previous day (27,679 cases).


Compared to a week ago on the 29th of last month (27,632 cases), the number decreased by 6,360, and compared to two weeks ago on the 22nd of last month (28,267 cases), it decreased by 6,995. Considering the increase until midnight, the number of new cases to be announced on the 7th is expected to be in the mid-20,000s.


Among the newly confirmed cases in the interim tally, 11,125 (52.3%) were from the metropolitan area, and 10,147 (47.7%) were from non-metropolitan areas.


By region, the numbers are: Gyeonggi 6,047, Seoul 4,319, Daegu 1,338, Incheon 1,292, Gyeongbuk 1,281, Gyeongnam 1,227, Gangwon 800, Chungbuk 777, Chungnam 759, Jeonbuk 699, Busan 572, Jeonnam 566, Gwangju 515, Daejeon 390, Ulsan 355, Sejong 174, and Jeju 161.


The daily new cases over the past week from the 30th of last month to this day were 28,488 → 26,949 → 23,589 → 12,143 → 16,420 → 34,739 → 28,648, averaging 24,425 cases per day.
