Hampyeong-gun Successfully Hosts the 26th Senior Citizens' Day Ceremony


[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Hampyeong County held the 26th Senior Citizens' Day ceremony on the 6th to express respect and gratitude to the elderly on Senior Citizens' Day.


According to the county on the 6th, about 1,900 people attended the ceremony held at the Hampyeong Culture and Sports Center, including Lee Sang-ik, Hampyeong County Governor, Lee Gae-ho, National Assembly member, Yoon Aeng-rang, Chairman of the County Council, Jo Yong-mu, Chairman of the Korea Senior Citizens Association Hampyeong Branch, and provincial and county council members.


Hosted by Hampyeong County and organized by the Korea Senior Citizens Association Hampyeong Branch (Chairman Jo Yong-mu), this event was prepared to honor the hard work of the elderly who play a pivotal role in regional development.


The ceremony proceeded in the order of the national anthem, awarding the Suseong Senior Award and Model Senior Award, presentation of appointment letters to local volunteer leaders, commemorative speeches, and congratulatory speeches.


In particular, as a pre-ceremony event, participants of the social education program at the Hampyeong Senior Welfare Center performed cultural dances, receiving great applause.


Governor Lee Sang-ik said, “I ask the elderly to lead the local community with their experience and wisdom,” and added, “We will do our best to promote senior welfare so that the elderly can enjoy a beautiful old age.”
