During this call, President Yoon is expected to condemn North Korea's intermediate-range ballistic missile launch on the 4th and discuss ways to closely respond to North Korea's nuclear and missile provocations based on the trilateral cooperation among South Korea, the United States, and Japan, grounded in the South Korea-U.S. alliance and the U.S.-Japan alliance.
According to the Japanese Prime Minister's Office, Prime Minister Kishida expressed his intention to communicate with South Korea on security issues following his phone call with U.S. President Joe Biden the previous night.
Earlier, on the 22nd of last month in New York, President Yoon held a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Kishida, where they shared concerns about North Korea's nuclear program and agreed on the importance of strengthening cooperation.
