The LA office will be used as a base for △discovering local partners and market testing △establishing local marketing strategies △attracting local investments, and will serve as a place to share practical startup know-how through networking with successful alumni companies in the area. The KU Global Center previously opened offices in Silicon Valley, USA, and Beijing, China.
Jin-Taek Jung, President of Korea University, said, “We hope it can be used as a networking and mentoring place with alumni companies that have entered the US local market,” adding, “We plan to continue strengthening overseas startup support programs to nurture global leaders.”
Smartus Korea Co., Ltd., a student startup from Korea University that participated in the opening ceremony, is developing an oral care solution using optical sensors. They participated in the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in the US earlier this year and plan to use the LA office as a marketing base targeting local customers.
