[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] In Byeollae-dong, Namyangju-si, Gyeonggi-do, yellow foldable chairs are installed on traffic light poles in various places. When pulled down with one hand, a small chair measuring 20cm in width and 70cm in height is created. This installation, called the 'Longevity Chair,' is an invention devised by the local police chief to prevent jaywalking accidents involving elderly pedestrians who find it difficult to wait for the signal while standing. With a focus on accident prevention, jaywalking accidents among elderly pedestrians in the area have significantly decreased thanks to this idea chair.
