Star Alliance Selected as Best Airline Alliance

[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dae-yeol] Star Alliance, the global airline alliance to which Asiana Airlines belongs, was selected as the Best Airline Alliance at the 2022 Skytrax World Airline Awards, the company announced on the 4th.

This award is also called the Oscars of the aviation industry. It is conducted independently through international customer voting. From last year to this year, a total of 14.23 million people from 100 countries participated in the survey. Star Alliance received this award for the first time in 2005 when it was established and won it consecutively for four years from 2016 to 2019. This year, eight member airlines belonging to the alliance received awards in 28 categories.

The company explained that Star Alliance was recognized for its multifaceted efforts to enhance customer experience. Recently, it expanded its network through a complex partnership model combining eco-friendly systems of other transportation modes with air travel. A representative example is the program that allows booking journeys with a single ticket in cooperation with Deutsche Bahn.

Jeffrey Goh, CEO of Star Alliance, said, "The meaning of this award is even greater as we celebrate our 25th anniversary this year," adding, "It is thanks to the efforts and passion of the Star Alliance team and the executives and employees of our member airlines that perfect travel was made possible in a challenging environment."
