[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Professor Yeo Sang-su of Mokwon University (photo) was selected as a meritorious person for personal information protection and utilization and received a presidential citation.
According to Mokwon University on the 4th, Professor Yeo received the presidential citation at the recently held '2nd Personal Information Protection Day' ceremony.
Professor Yeo was recognized for his contribution to the adoption of the 'Korea-European Union (EU) Adequacy Decision on Personal Information Protection' last year while serving as the Director (Senior Secretary) of International Cooperation at the Personal Information Protection Commission from August 2020 to July last year.
Having served as the Director of Academic Information and the Director of Planning and Budget at Mokwon University, Professor Yeo is currently leading the Ministry of Science and ICT's software (SW) talent development project as the head of the Software Talent Development Center.
Meanwhile, Personal Information Protection Day was designated last year to commemorate the establishment of an institutional foundation to protect citizens' personal information with the enforcement of the Personal Information Protection Act on September 30, 2011.
