[Seoul District Photo News] Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon-gu, Attends Opening Ceremony of the 21st District Mayor's Cup Dongdae Mother Volleyball Tournament

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) successfully held the "19th International Peace Marathon" on the morning of the 3rd at 8 a.m. in the area of Bongeunsa-ro in front of the Samsung 1-dong Community Center.

The marathon courses included a full course (42.195 km), half course (21 km), 10 km, and 5 km, with about 6,000 participants including the US Eighth Army Command in Korea, various embassies, foreigners, club members, and local residents.

On the 3rd at around 10:30 a.m., Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon-gu, Seoul, attended the opening ceremony of the 21st District Mayor's Mother Volleyball Tournament held at Junggye Community Sports Center.

Hosted by the Nowon-gu Sports Council and organized by the Nowon-gu Volleyball Association, the tournament featured teams of 9 players from each neighborhood, with a total of about 200 participants. The results of the matches up to the quarterfinals will be reflected as neighborhood scores in the "Nowon-gu Residents Sports Festival" to be held on the 15th at Madeul Sports Town, with the semifinals continuing.

The event proceeded in the order of opening declaration, award presentation, congratulatory speeches, and athlete oath. In particular, Mayor Oh demonstrated an exhibition match with the vice chairman and association president.

Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon-gu, said, "Seeing the lively appearance of the residents makes me very excited for the upcoming Nowon-gu Residents Sports Festival," and added, "We will continue to strive to create opportunities through community sports to promote not only the health of residents but also communication and harmony."
