[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyemin] Hyundai Engineering & Construction has joined hands with Incheon Port Authority for ESG management to create a sustainable society.

Hyundai Engineering & Construction announced on the 3rd that it signed a "Joint Agreement for ESG Management Promotion" with Incheon Port Authority on the 30th of last month. The signing ceremony held at the Incheon Port Authority headquarters was attended by Yoon Young-jun, President of Hyundai Engineering & Construction, and Choi Jun-wook, President of Incheon Port Authority, among others.

The two organizations plan to cooperate mutually for organic ESG management innovation between private companies and public institutions, and jointly plan and operate various programs such as environment, safety, mutual growth, and regional coexistence.

In particular, through the "Incheon New Port Phase 1-2 Container Wharf Substructure Construction Project" currently underway by Hyundai Engineering & Construction and Incheon Port Authority, they have agreed to reduce pollutant emissions at the construction site by expanding the use of eco-friendly construction methods and materials. From this year until the completion of the project in 2025, they will jointly contribute a certain amount annually to support regional coexistence and aid marginalized groups.

Additionally, they plan to jointly promote environmental cleanup activities at Incheon Port and cooperate to create an eco-friendly and safe construction site by introducing smart safety technologies on site.

President Yoon Young-jun said, "By establishing a sustainable cooperation foundation between the private sector and public institutions, we expect the scope of ESG management in the port industry to expand," adding, "Through this agreement, we will strive for mutual growth of small and medium-sized enterprises and local communities, as well as the spread of ESG management culture."
