[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Ulsan City and Ulsan Police Agency held the ‘2024 Ulsan City Regional Security Council Regular Meeting’ at 10:30 a.m. on the 30th in the large conference room on the 6th floor of the Police Agency, agreeing to join forces to create a ‘Safe City for Me’ Ulsan.
The meeting was attended by 23 members including Kim Doo-gyeom, Mayor of Ulsan and chairperson of the Regional Security Council, Park Sung-joo, Chief of Ulsan Police Agency, and representatives from local academia, business, media, and civic groups, discussing joint tasks for crime prevention and establishment of law and order.
The main agenda items included ▲promotion of community policing policies through local resident participation ▲prevention of digital sex crimes and establishment of victim protection and support systems ▲ensuring safety for dementia patients through distribution of wandering detection devices ▲consideration of installing section control cameras in high-risk traffic accident areas, all aimed at building a ‘Safe City for Me’ Ulsan.
To strengthen cooperative policing between the police and citizens and create a safer and more secure Ulsan, the council actively gathered citizens’ opinions on next year’s ‘Resident Participation Crime Prevention Environmental Improvement Project (CPTED)’ and the ‘Retired Police Officer Patrol Squad’ policy.
They also discussed measures to ensure practical improvements based on crime risk factors identified by the Retired Police Officer Patrol Squad.
A city official stated, “To build a ‘Safe City for Me’ Ulsan, we will continuously expand the security infrastructure and promote social consensus on establishing law and order as well as reform movements for civic awareness. To this end, we will faithfully implement joint and individual tasks by each institution and organization.”
The city’s Regional Security Council is composed of 23 institutions and organizations including Ulsan City, the City Council, the Office of Education, the Police Agency, media, and civic groups.
Since its launch in 2008, it has continuously expanded security infrastructure such as crime prevention CCTV, integrated control center operations, and traffic safety facilities, and has also made efforts to cultivate advanced civic awareness through campaigns to eradicate the four major social evils and establish law and order.
