Arrest of a Man in His 30s Caught in the Act

[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] A man in his 30s who forcibly put his ex-girlfriend into his car was arrested by the police.
On the 30th, the Seocho Police Station in Seoul announced that they have arrested Mr. A, a man in his 30s, on charges of confinement and violation of the Stalking Punishment Act, and are investigating him.
Mr. A is accused of putting his ex-girlfriend, Ms. B, into his vehicle around 1 a.m. on the 26th and driving for about an hour. Afterwards, Ms. B escaped midway, and Mr. A and Ms. B reportedly had an argument inside a building.
The police, who responded to a 112 call reporting a severe fight between a man and a woman inside the building, analyzed CCTV footage and caught Mr. A, who had fled, in front of a street in Seocho-dong.
According to the police, Mr. A also followed Ms. B in his vehicle on the 25th while she was going to work. He is also suspected of continuously stalking the victim by sending her about 50 messages a day.
A police official stated, "We have applied for emergency protective measures and provisional orders," and added, "We plan to investigate the exact circumstances of the incident."
