Hanchang Holds Jindo Resource Circulation Center Opening Ceremony... "Applying Eco-Friendly Construction Methods"

[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] Hanchang announced on the 30th that it held an eco-friendly resource circulation center opening ceremony and technology briefing session in Jindo-gun, Jeollanam-do, together with HCR on the 29th.

HCR is a corporation established for the Jindo low-temperature pyrolysis and liquefaction facility demonstration project and is a subsidiary of Hanchang Green Holdings. At this event, Hanchang provided an on-site equipment explanation following the completion of the low-temperature pyrolysis liquefaction plant installation and a technical explanation of the low-temperature pyrolysis process. Many domestic officials from environmental organizations such as the Yeongsangang River Basin Environmental Office of the Ministry of Environment, Korea Environment Corporation, Jeonnam Development Corporation, and Jeonnam Environmental Industry Promotion Agency attended, along with Sri Lanka's Mayor Viyagamashee.

The low-temperature pyrolysis liquefaction plant developed and installed by Hanchang is gaining more attention for securing not only productivity and economic feasibility but also eco-friendliness. It enables 100% recycling of waste plastics and waste vinyl without causing environmental pollution.

In particular, the country's first catalytic cracking refining facility introduced at this technology briefing session attracted high interest from attendees as it is a technology that refines recycled oil to produce high-quality refined oil (naphtha). Additionally, a technology that converts problematic substances such as wax, which had been an issue during low-temperature pyrolysis, into light oil by low-carbon hydrocarbon conversion was also showcased.

As the government is recently implementing circular economy activation policies related to fostering the waste plastic pyrolysis oil industry, demand for Hanchang's low-temperature pyrolysis liquefaction plant is expected to increase.

The government announced that to revitalize the waste plastic pyrolysis industry, pyrolysis oil will be added to the ‘recycling type’ category so that it can be used to produce high value-added ‘naphtha,’ a raw material for petrochemical products such as synthetic resins and synthetic fibers. Furthermore, pyrolysis oil manufacturing facilities will be classified as recycling facilities to simplify installation and inspection standards.

A company official said, “The establishment of the low-temperature pyrolysis resource circulation center in Jindo-gun has now been completed,” and added, “We expect this center to serve as an outpost for creating an eco-friendly resource circulation ecosystem, contributing not only to environmental preservation in the Jindo area but also to carbon neutrality and the circular economy at the whole-government level.”
