[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Gwangyang City, Jeollanam-do announced on the 29th that it held a kickoff meeting on the 28th for the establishment of the basic plan for the Doseon Guksa Cultural Tourism Belt.
The meeting began with the appointment ceremony of advisory committee members, followed by attendance from about 10 supporting departments and advisory committee members involved in the creation of the cultural tourism belt. After hearing the basic plan implementation plan from the service provider, various consultations on the direction of the project and discussions on opinions and cooperation matters from related departments took place.
The basic plan service, which will be carried out over 10 months until June 2023, aims to establish the operation and planning of the Doseon Guksa Cultural Tourism Belt, develop a tourism belt plan linked with major resources within the area, secure funding by sector, and prepare concrete mid- to long-term execution strategies to revitalize tourism in Gwangyang City, thereby actively promoting the project.
Additionally, to enhance the outcomes of the basic plan establishment service, a local and external advisory committee in related fields will be formed and operated to serve as a channel for collecting diverse opinions. Cooperation with related ministries such as the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will be strengthened to prepare concrete plans for future projects.
Jang Hyung-gon, Director of the Tourism, Culture and Environment Bureau, stated, “Through this service, we will broadly promote the presentation of a new cultural tourism belt model in the Baegunsan area and secure future growth engines for Gwangyang tourism,” and requested active support and cooperation from advisory committee members and related organizations (departments).
Meanwhile, the basic plan establishment service for the Doseon Guksa Cultural Tourism Belt is a project to discover and foster future-oriented ESG tourism projects centered on Gwangyang City’s Okryong Temple site. The city selected the service provider through a negotiated contract starting in June and commenced the service on August 22.
