Gwangju University President Kim Dong-jin Draws Attention with 'Unreserved' Communication with Students

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] On the first day of the ‘2022 Academic Year Daedongje’ on the 27th, Kim Dongjin, President of Gwangju University, opened the ‘Chong Cafe’ and had a time of communication with students.

According to Gwangju University on the 28th, the ‘Chong Cafe,’ operated jointly by the president and the student council president, was held at a special booth set up in the school’s main gate parking lot and started at 7 p.m.

President Kim, along with Park Wonbin, the student council president, provided coffee and ade drinks that were directly made with the help of students from the Hotel Food and Beverage Cooking Department and the Aviation Service Department.

He also showed friendliness by posing individually for students’ photo requests and continuing conversations without hesitation.

The drinks at ‘Chong Cafe’ were provided free of charge, but a donation box was prepared to collect funds to help victims of typhoon damage.

Donors were given small prizes through a random drawing on a first-come, first-served basis.

Students who drew ‘Conversation with the President’ in the random drawing rode in the official car in groups of 2 to 3, shared opinions on suggestions, and had time to think together about school life.

President Kim Dongjin said, “I feel good to be able to talk closely with students. I will be a young president who works hard so that the passion for school life can burn brightly.” He added, “On the other hand, I also felt a determination to expand opportunities for communication with students in various ways.”
