[Asia Economy Sejong=Reporter Kim Hyewon] The National Tax Service (NTS) will provide tax refund guidance and support to 2.25 million individual service income earners, including delivery riders, caddies, and academy instructors.
The NTS announced that from the 28th, over a period of three days, it will send mobile notifications to individual service income earners who have not filed comprehensive income tax returns for the past five years (2017?2021 tax years) and have therefore missed out on refunds totaling 274.4 billion KRW.
The recipients include 380,000 door-to-door salespersons, 250,000 credit card membership recruiters, 190,000 academy instructors, 80,000 event assistants, 80,000 delivery riders, and 1.27 million caregivers, designated drivers, bathhouse attendants, caddies, entertainment assistants, electricity and gas meter readers, among others, totaling 2.25 million people. Refund guidance messages were sent via KakaoTalk or SMS.
By clicking the 'View' button in the notification, recipients can check the estimated refund amount and income details. By pressing the 'Mobile Filing Shortcut' button in the notice and logging into the Hometax mobile app, they can complete the refund filing in one step on a single screen without going through complicated procedures.
Refund amounts range from as little as 10,000 KRW to as much as 3.12 million KRW (cumulative over 5 years). Refunds will be deposited by the end of the month following the refund filing.
