Gwangju Dong-gu 'Gusicheong Night Festival' Successfully Concluded

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 27th that it will seek seasonal specialized festivals combining unique food and culture, following the successful hosting of the ‘Old City Hall Night Festival’ held in the Asia Food Culture District.

On the 23rd and 24th, Dong-gu held the Old City Hall Night Festival as a ‘private participation night festival’ led by various private entities such as Gwangju youth, artists, and citizen public groups, based on the participation of businesses within the Asia Food Culture District.

DJ performances and unique busking shows centered around Jungang Pole as the main stage greatly elevated the street festival atmosphere. In addition, various experience booths such as traditional liquor cocktails, Vietnamese food, fragrance experiences, as well as street games, talk concerts, and street furniture photo zones received high praise from visitors.

Im Taek, Mayor of Dong-gu, said, “The face-to-face event held for the first time in over two years due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic revitalized the local commercial district and became an opportunity to create a new street culture.” He added, “We hope that the street will continue to transform into one filled with unique food and cultural festivals, such as self-sustaining seasonal specialized festivals, through the influx of new street participants and the proactive participation of continuous business establishments.”
