[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] Jeong Cheong-rae, Supreme Council Member of the Democratic Party of Korea, directly criticized President Yoon Seok-yeol on the 27th, asking, "What is the difference between getting slapped in New York and glaring at MBC?"

This was in response to President Yoon's remarks regarding the 'vulgar language controversy' that arose during his overseas trip the previous day, where he said, "Reports that are not based on facts and damage the (Korea-US) alliance put the people at risk," and added, "The truth about this matter must be clarified more definitively."

On the same day, Supreme Council Member Jeong appeared on KBS Radio's 'Choi Kyung-young's Strong Current Affairs' and said, "President Yoon has scored many own goals and self-goals." He continued, "The broadcast cameras covered it live, and the people watched. Then the person who scored the own goal should take responsibility, so why glare at the broadcast cameras and say you can't trust the eyes and ears of the people?"

He added, "This is like saying, 'I will conduct a search and seizure on the eyes and ears of the people. I will investigate,'" and retorted, "Why curse in New York and then curse MBC after returning to Korea?"

Supreme Council Member Jeong claimed, "It seems President Yoon does not recognize himself as the president." He further emphasized, "He is a politician, and the words came out of his own mouth and caused a problem. In such cases, before examining the sequence of events, he should first say, 'I am sorry.'

He continued, "Isn't it that he cannot say that one sentence now?" and questioned, "He was the Prosecutor General, wasn't he? Now that he is president, doesn't he have the mindset of a Prosecutor General of the Supreme Prosecutors' Office?"
