Stabbing Rampage at a Middle School in Gwangju... No Casualties Reported

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] A middle school student who threatened a classmate with a weapon because he was not allowed to attend an experiential learning camp was apprehended by the police.

The Gwangju Western Police Station announced on the 27th that they are investigating middle school student A on charges of special intimidation.

A is accused of threatening a classmate by wielding a pre-prepared weapon in a classroom at a middle school in Gwangju Metropolitan City around 8:15 a.m. that day.

The school quickly evacuated the students and reported the incident to the police, and fortunately, no casualties occurred.

During the police investigation, A reportedly stated, "I was angry because I couldn't go on the training activity."

The school resumed experiential learning camps and school trips for the first time in three years since the outbreak of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

However, A was reportedly selected as a special education candidate by an external agency due to previous misconduct at school and was not allowed to participate.

The police plan to investigate the exact motive and circumstances of the incident with A.
