Uiryeong-gun Unfolds General Gwak Jae-woo's 'Hongui' Hapgang The Kochia flowers planted in the Hapgang area of Uiryeong-gun, Gyeongnam, are forming a red wave.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Wook] A red wave reminiscent of the patriotism of General Gwak Jae-woo, who wore red clothes and raised a militia to save the country from the invasion of Japanese pirates, spread across the Hapgang area in Uiryeong-gun, Gyeongnam.

Uiryeong-gun announced that this year as well, a scenic complex was created in the Seongsan district Hapgang area of Jijeong-myeon.

This year, an area of 10.5 hectares was planted with kochia, cornflower, globe amaranth, gaura, aster chrysanthemum, pink muhly, coreopsis, Korean chrysanthemum, and garden chrysanthemum, increasing by 7.4 hectares from last year's 3.1 hectares.

According to the county, the Hapgang area, where the scenic complex has been established since 2019, is the meeting point of the Nakdong River and Nam River, representative rivers of South Korea, and about 40,000 people visited last year.

A county official said, “A festival is scheduled to be held here from October 8 to 10, and from the end of October, green barley will be planted to offer visitors a green wave.”
