New Release 'I Came Because I Was Frustrated'
A Very Special Conversation Between a Rocker Facing an Uncertain Tomorrow and an Anxiety Expert
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwanju] Everyone experiences moments of exhaustion and frustration in life, sometimes without even knowing exactly why, which makes it even more frustrating. These periods can last for several days or even longer than expected.
If it passes quickly, that's fortunate, but what should you do if the end is nowhere in sight, leaving you feeling overwhelmed and anxious? The book "I Came Because I Was Frustrated," co-written by Professor Han Deokhyun of the Department of Psychiatry at Chung-Ang University Hospital and Lee Seongwoo, the vocalist of the band Nobrain, explores how people living with depression and anxiety can navigate difficult times through conversation.
In fact, the hardest part of experiencing depression or anxiety is not knowing exactly why you are struggling. Professor Han says, "The hardest part of experiencing depression or anxiety is not knowing exactly why you are struggling," and emphasizes that "therefore, it is very important to start talking to someone."
Professor Han advises, "The moment you say, 'I am struggling with these things right now,' you have already organized in your mind what is difficult, what results it has caused, and how much you are suffering to the point of expressing it." He encourages those who feel exhausted and frustrated to begin sharing their stories.
As a specialist in sports psychiatry, Professor Han provides psychological consultation and counseling to professional athletes in various fields such as baseball, basketball, and professional gaming. Additionally, as a child and adolescent psychiatry specialist, he serves as the team leader at Chung-Ang University Hospital's Game Addiction Counseling and Treatment Center and has developed games to improve treatment outcomes for cancer patients.
Lee Seongwoo is the vocalist of Nobrain, a first-generation punk rock band in South Korea's indie culture. Since their debut in 1997, Nobrain has captivated countless music fans with over 4,000 energetic performances. The band is recognized as a leading domestic group, having won the Group of the Year award at the 4th Korean Popular Music Awards in 2007 and the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Commendation at the 11th Korea Popular Culture and Arts Awards in 2020, earning both critical acclaim and popularity.
