Strengthening Linkage and Cooperation in Regulatory Free Zones
Ministry of SMEs and Startups Holds Sangsaeng Eum Launch Ceremony
Public Procurement Service Participates with Naver Cloud and Others
The cooperative network 'Sangsaeng Ieum,' designed to create synergy among government-operated Regulatory Sandbox Zones and promote market entry of demonstration projects, has been newly launched.
On the 27th, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups held the launch ceremony for Sangsaeng Ieum at the Seoul Central Post Office located in Jung-gu, Seoul, to strengthen linkage and cooperation among the Regulatory Sandbox Zones. Through Sangsaeng Ieum, participating organizations from other sandbox zones conducting demonstrations in related fields will share information and jointly respond when revising relevant regulations.
Sangsaeng Ieum consists of six new industry sectors including non-face-to-face medical services, autonomous driving, hydrogen, and electric energy. Representatives from the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, local governments, and companies involved in demonstrations within each sector participate. Partner organizations such as the Public Procurement Service, National Institute of Technology and Standards, Naver Cloud, and LG Uplus also participate in the Sangsaeng Ieum project. These organizations have signed memorandums of understanding (MOUs) with Sangsaeng Ieum participants to promote domestic and international market entry of products and services whose safety has been verified within the sandbox zones.
Lee Jong-wook, Commissioner of the Public Procurement Service, stated, "The Public Procurement Service will actively support testing the performance of innovative products that have completed demonstrations in the sandbox zones in the public procurement market through the innovative procurement system and help build initial achievements." Lee Young, Minister of SMEs and Startups, said, "Sangsaeng Ieum is not only a link connecting sandbox zones nationwide but also a communication channel between sandbox zones and external partner organizations. We will continuously discover and promote cooperative tasks with external organizations to foster new industries."
Meanwhile, prior to the launch ceremony, a policy forum was held to explore the institutionalization and development directions of non-face-to-face medical services. This forum, attended by medical, industrial, and government officials, was based on the safety verification results of demonstration projects in the non-face-to-face medical service sandbox zones located in Gangwon Province and Daegu.
Discussions were held between the government and industry to share opinions on the institutionalization direction of non-face-to-face medical services utilizing sandbox demonstration achievements, as well as anticipated safety and effectiveness issues upon introduction.
