[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] A man in his 40s was arrested on the 26th on charges of holding a mobile phone up to the front door of a woman living alone and recording sounds from inside.
On the same day, Judge Kim In-taek of the Seoul Eastern District Court issued an arrest warrant after a pre-arrest suspect interrogation (warrant review), stating there was "a risk of flight."
Earlier this month, Mr. A is suspected of holding a mobile phone up to the front door of his neighbor Mr. B’s house several times and recording sounds from inside.
Mr. B found it suspicious that Mr. A was noticeable every time he left the house, so he installed a closed-circuit television (CCTV) and, upon discovering the charges, filed a complaint with the police.
The police applied for a pre-arrest warrant for Mr. A on the 21st of this month on charges of trespassing, violation of the Communications Privacy Protection Act, and violation of the Stalking Punishment Act, and also applied for provisional measure No. 4, which allows detention for up to one month. However, since the arrest warrant was issued on the same day, the provisional measure was deemed unnecessary and dismissed.
