A Man in His 50s Arrested for Threatening to Kill and Lock His Ex in a Car

[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] A man in his 50s who locked his ex-lover in a car and threatened to kill her has been booked.


On the 26th, the Seongdong Police Station in Seoul announced that they have booked a man in his 50s, Mr. A, on charges of violation of the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment, etc. of Sexual Violence Crimes (filming using a camera, etc.), violation of the Stalking Punishment Act, and other charges, and are investigating him.


Mr. A is accused of locking a woman he previously dated and broke up with in a car the day before in the morning and threatening her by saying, "I will pour gasoline and kill you," and "I will distribute the video."


The police, who responded to a passerby's report, arrested Mr. A at the scene, investigated him, and then booked him. Currently, the police have voluntarily obtained Mr. A's mobile phone and requested digital forensics.


Regarding the victim, safety measures for crime victims (personal protection) such as providing a smartwatch and registering her as a safety measure target in the 112 system have been taken.


A police official stated, "After investigating the motive for the crime against Mr. A, we plan to apply for an arrest warrant within today."
