The Daejeon Fire Headquarters announced that at around 2:30 PM on the 26th, they discovered and recovered the bodies of two men on the basement first floor of the Hyundai Outlet.

The Fire Headquarters estimates that the two bodies found are part of the four Hyundai Outlet employees reported missing earlier that morning.

Earlier in the morning at the scene, a man in his 50s and a man in his 30s were found with severe injuries due to the fire and were transported to the hospital but ultimately passed away. Including the two additional bodies found, the total number of deaths is now four.

The Fire Headquarters received reports from employees who escaped the scene at the time of the fire stating that they could not contact their colleagues, and have launched search and rescue operations for the missing persons.

Meanwhile, the fire is believed to have started at around 7:45 AM that day in the underground loading area of Hyundai Outlet in Yongsan-dong, Yuseong-gu, Daejeon.

The Fire Headquarters extinguished the major fire at around 1:10 PM that day and is currently working to ventilate smoke from the basement to the outside while continuing search operations for the two missing persons.
