Heartwarming Donations Continue, Including 770,000 Won Collected as Pocket Money Donated to Pohang Sunrin Orphanage

Suwon City and Ulleung County, sister cities of Pohang, visited on the 23rd to deliver donations for the recovery support from the damage caused by Typhoon Hinnamnor. Suwon City donated 25 million KRW, and Ulleung County donated 2.5 million KRW. The Jaepo Ulleung Hometown Association also donated 2 million KRW.
Lee Jae-jun, Mayor of Suwon City, said, “I hope this will be well delivered to neighbors who are going through great difficulties due to the typhoon,” and “I wish for Pohang’s daily life to recover as soon as possible.”
Nam Han-kwon, Mayor of Ulleung County, said, “I hope Pohang City will quickly recover from the damage and citizens will regain their daily lives,” and “I hope the relief supplies will be of some help to citizens suffering from the typhoon damage.”
Suwon City established a sister city relationship with Pohang City in 2009, and Ulleung County signed a joint development agreement in 2007. They have been continuously dispatching visiting delegations to each other’s local festivals and events.
On the same day, the Ministry of Justice Youth Crime Prevention Committee Kimcheon-Gumi Regional Council visited Pohang City Hall and donated wallpaper and flooring worth 7.3 million KRW. The Pohang branch of the One More Child Movement Federation also delivered wallpaper and flooring worth 600,000 KRW, and the singer Youngtak’s fan club ‘Youngtak-i Ddak-iya Pohang Howtakbang’ donated wallpaper and flooring worth 2.5 million KRW.
Jung Bong-bae, president of the Kimcheon-Gumi Regional Council Federation, said, “I hope this can be a comfort to the victims going through a difficult time,” and Baek Jeong-sook, head of the Pohang branch of the One More Child Movement Federation, said, “I pray that the victims will overcome their pain and stand up again.”
About 80 children belonging to Seonrin Childcare Center, a childcare facility located in Pohang City, voluntarily collected their pocket money little by little and donated a total of 774,000 KRW to the disaster victims, delivering a touching message.
A child representing Seonrin Childcare Center who attended said, “I thought those who suffered damage from the typhoon must be scared and also having a hard time, so I decided to donate money to offer some comfort.”
Park Jeong-min, director of Seonrin Childcare Center, said, “Our children are growing up healthily thanks to the interest, support, and help from many people in the country and local community,” and “We will continue to support the children to practice sharing for those in difficulty, and we pray that the victims recover their daily lives as soon as possible.”
Lee Kang-deok, Mayor of Pohang City, said, “I deeply appreciate the warmth of sharing from sister cities and various organizations, and I will sincerely deliver it to the residents affected by the typhoon and do my best for the recovery.”
