Yeosu Coast Guard, Rapid Transport of 4 Emergency Patients Over the Weekend


[Yeosu=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Cheol-hoon] Jeonnam Yeosu Maritime Police Station (Chief Park Je-su) announced on the 26th that “emergency patients occurred on fishing boats at sea and in the Geomundo and Dolsan areas over the weekend and were urgently transported by patrol vessels.”


According to Yeosu Maritime Police, at around 8:26 PM on the 24th, a report was received that Mr. B (65 years old, male), who has a history of brain infarction surgery, was experiencing dizziness and nausea, symptoms suspected to be related to brain infarction, on fishing boat A (9.77 tons, 22 crew members) located 8 nautical miles east of Sangbaekdo, Yeosu.


Upon receiving the report, Yeosu Maritime Police dispatched a patrol vessel, boarded the patient onto the vessel, connected with the hospital through a remote emergency medical system to assess the patient’s condition, and handed over the patient to the 119 ambulance team waiting at Chukjeong Port, Naro Island.


Later that day, at around 8:56 PM, a report was received by the village chief that Ms. C (84 years old, female) in Deokchon-ri, Samsan-myeon, Yeosu City was experiencing difficulty breathing.


Suspected of having stroke symptoms, the patient was urgently transported by the coastal rescue boat dispatched by the police substation upon request from the health center nurse and handed over to the Goheung 119 Center ambulance team.


Additionally, at 11:05 AM on the 25th, Ms. D (76 years old, female) in Gaedo, Hwajeong-myeon, Yeosu City, experienced worsening symptoms of acute myocardial infarction, and at 4:44 PM, Ms. E (76 years old, female) in Geumodo, Nam-myeon, Yeosu City, was reported with vomiting and diarrhea symptoms. Yeosu Maritime Police dispatched coastal rescue boats and urgently transported them to the mainland.


A Yeosu Maritime Police official stated, “It has been confirmed that the emergency patients are receiving treatment at nearby regional hospitals,” and added, “We will do our best to promptly transport emergency patients occurring in island areas or at sea and protect the lives of the people.”
